A village lies deep up in the mountains of Gran Canaria. It is a little over 500 metres above sea-level. It is filled with rainforest and offers a deeper dive into Gran Canarian & Spanish culture. The bus trip seemed easy for the experienced bus-driver. We drove up through the steep hills and mountain area to Teror. Even on the way there, we saw some mountains with what looked like lakes in and on the hilled area.
Including shopping, street markets, and buildings like an old church, Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pino. It is dedicated to Virgen del Pino, a story figure of the Virgin Mary. According to legend, she appeared in a pine tree and is said to have healing properties.
A local guide named Alejandro showed us many of the local attractions. He knew his way around Teror not just from a tourist perspective but also as a local. Alejandro told us about the history of Teror and its people. He explained how the village had a different and more close-knit everyday life than a city like Las Palmas.
